Meeting Summary


The team had their first meeting together with Sunitha and Stella from URA. Based on the previous meeting, the team had already prepared a set of questions to ask Stella based on the 'Project Brief' that was given to them.


The team had raised concerns and issues that was important in aiding them to move forward with the project. Such of those includes, KPI(s) and financial budget that was not provided in the 'Project Brief'.


In the course of discussion, the team was able to find out the following necessary information:


Background

  • Focusing on kampong glam

  • Likelihood affected by covid19

  • A whole series of conversations “emerging stronger”

  • An ongoing placeholder plan for kampong glam to help stakeholders

  • “The kampong glam lions”

Problem

  • Other parts of kampong glam are still lesser known

  • Disconnect in foot traffic to the stakeholders, imbalance in between mainstream vs non-mainstream

  • Murals attract the most footfall

Objective

  • To create the non standard stories

  • For other voices to be heard

  • To draw other people of our age to Kampong Glam

  • Elements of content curation/creation

  • Uncovering the lesser known streets

  • Generate content for lesser known streets

  • How to focus on the other aspects of kampong glam

  • Locate heritage trades and stalls

Find out:

  • What are the standard stories that we always hear about Kampong Gelam?

  • What other places can they visit besides the mainstream places?

Primary Objectives

  • Growth in social media followers? Target: 4 figure

  • More stories uncovered, digging more stories

  • Hearing the tombstone covers (for eg, Non-Malay voices)

  • Perception change?

  • For target audience to visit more than just cafes

Based on the discussion with the team and Stella, the team was tasked to suggest ways to overcome the 'issues' and 'challenges' raised and to present them during the next meeting.
